So this was obviously this young man’s first time modeling. Some of the telltale signs were fidgeting, differences in pose after breaks, and wearing headphones! But nonetheless, he did a decent job, and I certainly give anybody willing to sit in one spot in the same position for several hours their due respect. It’s a hard job, and I, for one, am glad there are people out there willing to do it. About the piece, I am glad I decided to include his headphone cords. They tie in the black and white stripes in his shirt with the rest of the portrait. To me, they are also a testimony of youth shirking tradition, or perhaps being completely oblivious to it. I can’t think of an instance where an experienced figure model wore headphones during a session, but in this case it adds a lot of character.
What if they were white? Although I am an Apple user, I think I may have left them out. This is not an ipod commercial after all.
